Clad-Rack warehouse Pepsi distribution centre KSA
Jeddah, Saudi Arabien
Construction year2013
Project descriptionIn Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a large distribution centre was built in 2013 for the beverage manufacturer Pepsi. The realised Clad-Rack warehouse of 42.90 metres is one of the tallest racking systems possible. Due to the silo construction, the foundation slab not only experiences high vertical loads due to the storage of beverages, but also very high uplift loads due to the consideration of "earthquake with partial loading" and "maximum wind with empty racking".
- Significant reduction of slab thickness -> Economic aspect
- No need for core drilling when dowelling the shelving system
- For the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certifications, clear advantages resulted from the use of combined reinforcement
